A Christmas Tag By Gem

Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate: Hot Chocolate without the slightest hesitation, never tried Egg Nog!

Coloured lights on the tree/house or white: We have white lights on our tree not got any outside house lights but if we did pretty sure that they would be the icicle ones

Do you hang mistletoe: Nope

When do you put your decorations up: Generally the second week of December

What’s your fave holiday dish (excluding desserts): That has to be the Christmas dinner we don’t have turkey we have pork and chicken with all the trimmings - yummy!

What’s your fave Christmas memory as a child: the pure excitement on Christmas eve waiting for father Christmas to come, I couldn’t ever sleep

How and when did you learn the truth about Santa: Cant remember, but I still believe he is the spirit of my Christmas. It wouldn’t be Christmas without him

Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve: Some years Colin and I have, but only after all the Christmas preparations have been done and if we have any little pressies this year we wont as we have only one present each and they are big

How do you decorated your Christmas Tree: start with the lights then the tinsel, then the baubles, Colin if he isn’t away places the Angel on the top of the tree this year Lewis had the honour

Snow! Love it or dread it: ummm! Like it for about 5 mins when its fresh not walked on, then I don’t like it anymore LOL

Can you ice skate: Only been ice skating once and that was when I was eleven managed to stay upright for abit LOL

Do you remember your fave gift: As a child the most favourite was probably my telly (still got it! And it still works) as an adult my most favourite present would have to be my camera or my HiTi or could it be this years present this which is Robbie Robo that is a tough one LOL

What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you: Being with my family

What tops your tree: A sliver angel she is looking a little tired now but I haven’t the heart to replace her

Which do you prefer, giving or receiving: Once I have gotten over the frustration of what to buy, I love to watch the reaction of the person especially the boys that is my Christmas watch the kids open there presents.
I of course like to receive pressies too J

What is your fave Christmas song: I like the rock and roll Christmas songs and enjoy the traditional carols too so not got a fave really

What’s your fave Christmas story: I like the part of the nativity when the angel Gabriel came down to tell the shepherds that baby Jesus was born
my favourite film i think would be 'miracle on 34th Street' or 'its a wonderful life'

I am going to tag Nat and Beth

OOO! Sowwee

I have been such a bad blogger and not been keeping up with checking on your blogs either.

Colin has gone away in his lorry wont be back until crimbo eve, i have put the decs up so i am starting to get into the christmas spirit. So what has happened.....nothing really had my works party on friday the food was garbage but i had a laugh spent the saturday with a bad hangover aparantely the wine was off! On Sunday went to Bristol to pop in to see the lurkers we were having a 12 hour crop but as i havent been feeling like crafting thought it was pointless me staying so i just stayed for a couple of hours for a good old natter and to give crimbo cards etc.

i have now bound the book from Giselles class it is just waiting for some pictures but i will take a photo to show you and one of the decoration, still not done anything with the 'trash' book that Kirsty Wiseman taught. I am off work tomorrow so i will get some piccies and post :D

Brief update

The funeral was today :( my aunt gave me some of my nans photos which means as you can appreciate the world! isn't it when you lose someone so close, that it really makes you think - this is why I scrap!

I have had a real up and down week, found going back to work very difficult as i work in a nursing home! but as you guys have said i am just to go with what ever/ how i feel so i am just taking one day at a time.

Anyway on a lighter note, Crimbo Scrapcamp day, was lovely, a fun packed day with 25 peeps, Kirsty Wiseman took the first class and showed us how to make a groovy 'Trash' book using things like acetate, CD case, CD envelope, cardboard and paint think she said there where piccies of it on her blog so go over and have a looky, not completed mine as yet, second class was by Hilary Ford she showed us how to make a altered crimbo decoration really enjoyed doing this class fiddly as it was but was really able to play at something different will take a piccie and show you. Last but not least was Giselle Homers' class of a Christmas binded book which was absolutely gorgeous i have plans to put all my 2006 Christmas piccies in it, that too isn't completed yet.
It was great to see my scrap buddies and i was so glad that Beth came over the bridge too :)

A Very Sad time for me

I have just had a brilliant weekend on UKS the cyber crop took place and of course the winning team was Slytherin it was a very close match between ourselves and the hufflepuffs but through shear determination we pull the broom from under them. i was pleased that i managed to complete 4 LOs and a mini book, went to bed a happy person, to get up at 7 o'clock to go to work, to a not so happy phone message that was left at 5 o'clock this morning from my Uncle, to inform me that my nan was dying, so of course i went into complete panic, rang the hospital, to find that she had passed at quarter past 5!

I am so upset that i was unable to get to say goodbye. I knew she was in hospital and had phoned every other day to find out how she was doing, she had requested not to have visitors so i respected that - very independent lady was my nanny, now i wish that i hadn't, i know that she has gone to a much better place and that she will be fine, no more aliments or pain, its me that i am crying for, for my selfishness that she isn't here for me anymore, to give me advice or comfort or for just being my nanny so i will say it here, I love you nanny, goodbye for now as i know i will see you again X ............ am sorry for posting this but i thought it might help me in some therapeutic way, not sure how as i am bawling!

Crimbo Cards

It feels like I haven't done any crafting for an age! I haven't felt like making anything and the 'to do' list was getting longer, so today I grabbed myself by the scruff of the neck and cracked on with making crimbo cards for the 'ladies who lurk', have decided that i wasn't going to make cards for everyone i know this year, so i have bought a box of cards too, so that has taken the 'making' pressure off!

Are you getting ready for the UKS Cyber Crop? that is another reason why i needed to get the 'to do' list down a bit cos i really want to take part in this. Our household has been getting right into Harry Potter, we have all rewatched the films, Ryan and I enjoyed doing the Harry Potter Quiz that has been orgainsed on forum. So i am getting quite enthused about the up and coming weekend not sure what classes to join in yet though!

Right better get back to that 'to-do' list, next! have a CJ entry to get on with.

Ciao for now!

Update

Well Lewis had a lovely time he spent the morning with his daddy playing with his pressies, when i came home from work i cooked his chosen tea which was pork chops and potato wedges finished off with the Scooby-Doo cake.

I then left for Bristol to meet up with Ellie and Mandy from ModScraps so we could drive to a little village near Newcastle Emlyn in Wales, where we were going to spend the weekend. The journey to Wales was fine, the directions we were given were just spot on, arrived about 10 o'clock to a warm welcome from the other lurkers who had arrived much earier in the day, a roaring open fire, sausage casserole, jacket potato and a lovely cuppa tea, let the chillin' out begin :)

Saturday we woke up to a beautiful day, the sun was shining and really chilly (just how i love it!) after eating freshly baked bread topped with homemade plum jam, a crumpet and a cuppa Yummy! We drove to New Quay where we walked on the beach, played with our cameras, but the big highlight for me was watching two dolphins playing in the sea WOW! how cool! we were all leaning on the wall oohing and aahing as these most gorgeous creatures played. Unfortunately they were a tad bit too far out for my camera to capture this awesome moment.

After eating an enormous plate of faggots chips and peas we headed back home, where we settled to an late afternoon of scrapping - results my crimbo cards for the family are done YAY!. Once the wine began to flow we decided to pack in scrapping and play some funny word games, as you can imagine it was hilarious, think we toddled off to bed about 1 ish.

Got back home about 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon to the excited chatter of Lewis telling me about his previous evening watching fireworks.

Its always lovely to come home, even after a brilliant time away.

We had our own firework display in the garden which was fab then settled down to a take-away and the rest of the evening curled up on the sofa watching 'Torchwood' mmm... the perfect finale :)

Feeling a bit delicate

Well i went to see the wurzels last night! What a laugh, i drank way too much and had a good old dance.....'I'm a cider drinker!' anyway came home ended up sleeping in the bathroom, i got fed up having to keep getting up from my bed to get to the toilet! why is it when you are out you never feel that drunk, until you get in your bed then that is when it really hits you, the room starts spinning and then you've got to try and walk/run to the bathroom and last night i was doing a brilliant impression of a pin ball i bounced myself off a couple of my door frames as i tried to get to the loo! so today, i am feeling a little worse for ware LOL i know completely self inflicted. i am going to crawl back to my sofa and nurse my poor bruised head and tender tummy maybe ask my hubby to make me a nice bacon sarny!

Lady of Leisure

I have the day off work so i decided that i really need to get my finger out and make a start on my entry for a Lurkers CJ, it has to be completed by the 3rd November. Made a rough sketch of what i wanted to do last night.

Anyway today started off very leisurely, Jason made me egg on toast for breakfast (in bed i might add!), Ryan bought me up a mug of coffee and my simple scrapbooking mag that had plopped through my front door - talk about being spoilt! I eventually peeled myself from my pit. With sketch in hand made a start, funny how you have a plan in mind, then ideas pop in/out, the project starts to evolve and resembles nothing like the original plan it is still not completely stuck down so i am sure it will get added to!

Little Lewis has been off truckin with his dad this week. i am bringing him back home tonight, think that both Colin and Lewis have probably had enough of each other by now having to live in such a small area. Also, Colin wanted his new mobile phone that arrived yesterday it has a 3.2 mega pix camera!

Must go to town to get an outfit for Friday as i am going to see the Worzels with my friend.

Ciao for now :)

We ventured off to a near by pub and had lunch, then a couple of us went off to cribbs causeway to get the latest CS mag.

Fun Scrapping

I have done three LOs for the Ali Edwards challenges that Ann(i)e has been doing, she is on challenge 13 now so i have a bit of catching up to do. My third one is done but i need to put some embellishments on to it to complete, but i am not sure what yet i will know when i seen them. Also when you get two minutes go check out this new challenge site Pencillines I think i will try and give this a go too :D

Off to my local crop ModScraps in Bristol tomorrow, i always look forward to going, i just love spending time with my scrap buddies a chance to sit back relax with no worries. I have a working head, family head, friend head and my fave my scrapping head so tomorrow that will be well and truly screwed on, gosh I sound like a right Worzel Gummage LOL

Well it is Friday the 13th do you believe it is an unlucky day?

catch up soon

Monday, October 09, 2006

These are the two classes that Elsie Flannigan taught at camp, today i added the journalling (i am terrible at putting the journalling onto my LOs i have so many that need it to be done) the kite one isn't completing the same as Elsies i added an extra photo changed the layout of the cards round abit and added ink, but hey, that's what its about in it! i did enjoy taking the classes, Elsie is very unique sort of scrapper she is confident about her work and is passionate about what she does - i admire that! i will definitely be using some of the techniques again in the Gaye Simpson way :)

I am in an odd mood at the mo. You know when it is spring your supposed to do the 'spring clean'(never do it though LOL) well i am feeling that i really need to do this now but a winter clear-out! the whole house feels cluttered and its getting on me nerves. Colin said he would help me at the weekend so hopefully this time next week i will feel more cleansed :D

I Did Some Scrapping
I have been wanting to scrap but i really didn't know what or were to start so i thought i would get on with one of my classes from Scrapcamp made a start late afternoon completed it late last night after i watched 'Silent Hill' I am quite pleased with it but no matter how i try to angle stuff i just cant bring myself to leave if so i will have to just come to terms with the fact i am definitely a straight line scrapper.

Lewis went to a pirate themed birthday party yesterday he stayed in his costume all of two minutes as they had a bouncy castle. He came home happy and excited to go through his party bag

Back to reality

Nothing to blog about.. back to the normal routine of work and housework, yuk! its only now that i am just feeling not quite so tired obviously my stamina isn't quite as good as it use to be! i have pinched another thumbnail from someones photobox (pretty sure it was Kirsty Wisemans - thanks for sharing) one of everyone who was at camp :)

i know i have been tagged i haven't forgotten but i am having trouble thinking of 5 things that are weired about myself or my pets because trying to narrow it down to individual stuff is extremely difficult cos i is just a tab bit strange LOL though one thing i have noticed recently about myself is that i really cant sit still for more than 5 mins i have to get up and do some thing whether it is constructive or not. that became very evident at camp this weekend gone i would sit to get on with some scrapping and before i new it i was up out of my chair off to something random. so that is one

anyway who can i tag well i am going to tag Kirsty and that will have to be it as all you peeps have already been tagged once or maybe twice :D

Can You Believe It!

Got up Tuesday got ready for work, dropped little Lou off at school, set off for my day ahead, my pocket started to ring i reluctantly answered my phone as i was driving, to my dear hubby he happily wished me a happy anniversary!! OMG! i forgot our wedding anniversary i couldn't believe it (i had remembered it 2 weeks ago) i blame the fact that i had another important event happening that i am preparing for! LOL which is happening tomorrow! yeah! Anyway later on Tuesday Colin had admitted that he also had forgotten and it was his sister that had mentioned it the day before - i didn't feel quite so bad - what are we like a couple of sieve heads!

So update today - nothing really just organising stuff to make things easier for the folks being left at home, while i am having a blast in Bristol

i have been tagged by Di i will have to think about the 5 things! But who am i going to tag? all my bloggy chums have been tagged already i wonder if Elsie, Cathy, Kirsty, Donna and Ali mind if i tag them LOL

Anyhoo i will come back and let you know all about my time on camp probably, sometime Sunday as i am going out with Colin and sisters in laws on Saturday night

Getting organised!

Well SCRAPCAMP is this Thursday! am I excited? am I, Oh! heck yes. I think I am ready, piccies are all printed off for the classes that I am taking, made the name badge, got the alcohol, pjs and most importantly my scrapping chocolate - Minstrels. Yep! so thats me sorted. Just need to organised the rest of the Simpsons think I will have to make up some meals cos they will just eat take-aways the whole time i am away LOL.

We went to Ikea yesterday to get some ideas for our and Jason's bedrooms. I said to Colin that the weekend after Scrapcamp that we should move out of our old bedroom and make the move into the new extension so Jason could get into his own room finally. As Colin works away all week we don't seem to get the time to crack on with the little, but much needed jobs that need to be done to make the room a bedroom, so i thought by the fact of me moving in there it would hopefully provide the kick up the backsides that is needed.

Saturday night was very stormy here in Wiltshire about 2:30am it all kicked off, my poor animals they were complete wrecks i ended up trying to sleep on the settee with them all wanting reassurance think we all finally fell asleep about an hour later once the storm moved on.

Ciao for now

Work Experience

Well i took Ryan to school today with his bag to catch the bus for Chepstow Army Camp, as i mentioned in an earlier waffle, he is doing his work experience with the Army oh! my ickle baby has gone away for a week, this isn't his first time away from home, but this feels different somehow!

Oh! had some exciting news yesterday my best friend has just found out she is pregnant its due next May so huge congrats to you hun :)

Is Wednesday here already!

Well ummm....what has been going on....not alot really, Saturday was a blast had far too many vodkas but i wasn't ill and i escaped the hangover on Sunday too so was pleased about that but i am worn out.
Monday spent a couple of hours in town with Ryan he is off this week from school as his year is on their work experience and he is doing his next week with the Army. anyway we decided it would be in all our best interests that we invested in a juicer so that was our mission we finally purchased one from Currys.
When i got Lewis from school i told him about the juicer he was so excited, we all picked blackberries from the field where we keep our horse, the boys popped over to next door and picked a load of apples (they did ask first LOL) they then took it in turns to put the fruit into the shoot. I am really chuffed as Lewis doesn't like blackberries but he thought that the apple/blackberry drink was lush, he even asked if we could put carrots in the juicer in stead of him eating them! anyway that was Monday

Tuesday...work nuff said :D

So today...was informed by a buddy that there is a piccy of me and another buddy in Papercraft essentials mag the photo was taken at the last Scrapcamp, well that is going to be closest i get to being published :P not seen it yet though.
Went back into town to get Ryan some trousers for his Army thingy he is staying on a camp for the week, we have a kit list, of course he doesn't have any of it!

I had another play with the CJ entry that i started, must complete it by Scrapcamp which is by the way 2 weeks away! i have nothing prepared for it, Elsie Flannigans class requires 4 pieces of memorabilia and wallets size photos Giselles class needs 20 photos! really should get my finger out.

Well that all folks! Catch up soon :)

Will have to have that camera ready to get those 'back to school' shots. i think we are now sorted! if not well thats just tough!

Well i have made a start last night on a CJ entry, i have had it for a couple of weeks now, have been avoiding it :D anyway thought i had better get on with it, its not finished, i didn't go to bed until 1:30 this morning - so i was obviously having a good time :D glad the boys werent back to school today as all we would have all been late as i didnt wake up until 9!

Fire!

Jason had cooked sausage sandwiches and cleared up the kitchen. When I entered the room I could smell what was like jos sticks, Ryan said that they had added spices to their sausages and that is what I could smell. Anyway I went into the kitchen later I could still smell it, plus the room was a tad bit smoky. So I started hunting around the kitchen looking for where this smell/smoke could be coming from, it seemed to come from the washing machine (Great, that is all I need, a burnt out washing machine - with piles of washing waiting to be done!) I turned it off and pulled it out, yeap definitely, the smell was stronger there! But it wasn't the machine - it was coming from next door! So not to risk anything we rang the fire brigade, they were brill. There wasn't a fire thankfully, next door have an open fire the smoke is leaking through somewhere, so that will need to be sorted out somehow, anyway, they fitted us up with new smoke detectors and Lewis got to sit in the fire truck.

Took Jason to the orthodontist yesterday, his teeth aren't bad enough to be funded by the NHS. After we went to Victoria Park so the boys could go to the skate park, so 'twas another busy day.

We are going to have an Indian takeaway and we have got a DVD 'Hostel'(hubbies choice!)

So Ciao for now :)

A Great Day Out

Well the kiddiwinks will be back to school next Wednesday, I think that I am ready got them new shoes, pens and pencils - yeap they will fine... oooo! Had a phone call yesterday from our local college, Jason has been excepted for a mechanic apprenticeship he went for an interview a few months back, he did very well but wasn't chosen there was only 15 places, Anyhoo! Someone had dropped out, J was top of the reserve list Wahay, well done J:)

Well the wasps are homeless now, a man from the council came yesterday sorted them out. Unfortunately the spray has trashed the hay, so will have to get some more.

Right today! Lewis and I spent the day at Cattle Country what a great place, we met up with my scrap buddies and all their children. We had a picnic, Lewis went on a train and we went on a tractor trailer to see the bison, why is it that kids have to point out when an animal wees or poos LOL - its really funny. Lewis went down a deathslide for the first time you could see on his little face that he was scared (I think maybe I probably had the same face too - watching) cor! Once he did it there was no stopping him. Think we will be visiting this place again :)

Off to the orthodontist tomorrow will find out whether Jason is to have his brace or not.

Wasps

I have a huge wasp nest in my hay stack where i keep my horse i went to check on my boy this evening and i was checking to see if the hay that i had left would be still ok to use for this winter when i disturded the wasps i am not joking when i say that they were not very happy they chased me up the field (i was running like a loony, screaming and arms waving)i was stung a couple of times but the scarest thing was, that they attached themselves to my jeans and were try to sting me repeatedly. Poor Lewis had to get them off me with a long stick i was afraid that they were going to get him too! but i couldnt get them off of me. Anyway, going to have to ring the council tomorrow so they can come and get rid of them.

Still havent scrapped anything and i am getting a tab behind on the Ali Edwards challenges 5,6 are up and i think Ann(i)e is going to post challenge 7 tomorrow.... :( oh no!

Hope you have had a good Bank Holiday weekend,i have been to work today, am also in tomorrow, have got Friday off as Jason has a dental appointment, will find out whether he is to have a brace or not.

Catch Up

Well what has been happening? hmmm! Nothing very exciting just the normal every day stuff! Housework, work

Its Colins birthday tomorrow, that is going to be strange for all of us as we wont see him - he works away from home. Hmmm!.... I have now picked up another day at work.

Went to a 12 hour crop on Saturday, it was a scrap buddies birthday so a few of us was able to get together (as it is was limited spaces at the crop) I did the two LOs above and completed an entry in a CJ which now can be sent off, that is the last book of the circle. The LO with the two boys on ended up in the bin as the cat decided it looked so good that it would make a perfect bed, it had muddy paw prints and was clawed all over. Anyhoo, Pretty much scrapped out now, think I did so much at the beginning of this month with the cyber crop and the Ali challenges. I think I will not be scrapping now until Scrapcamp Unless inspiration grabs me by the throat!

oh! Forgot to mention Gem has started a thread on UKS for the Elsie Flannigan Challenges I will probably give it a go when my mojo returns :)

I think that is pretty much it
So ciao for now :)

Oh!Howw highly exciting, classes with Elsie Flannigan, Kirsty Wiseman, Mandy Anderson and Giselle Homer! my little savings account will look pretty grim, ah!Welll, i am going to start saving for a Craft Robo now :)

Oh! Some more exciting news another scrap buddy has just got herself a second house in Wales, she has invited us 'Lurkers' for a scrapping weekend in November so that is another retreat to look forward to.

I gave Lewis a piece of 12x12 cardstock so that he could draw on it, i am planning to use it for the Ali Edward challenge

Day 2 Next Stop!..

It has been one of those days, got up, planned to do the Cyber Crop on UKS got the kids organized so that they were happy to leave me scrapping - sorted! Or so i thought! My friend (my best buddy that i haven't seen for ages) rang me to ask me, was i busy!? Well what could i say - "yes very busy on the internet taking scrap classes!" well yes i could have, but as i said i haven't seen her for ages, so i said yeah come on over! Anyway i downloaded the Class had a quick breeze over it, thought Oh! My God! There is loads of stitching (well it was a stitching on a LO class DAH!) and it had about ten photos! How on earth was i going to do this class to go in my BoM album!

Anyhoo, had a lovely afternoon with my buddy catching up, we ended up going round her house cos the all boys (she has one son) wanted to get there bikes and go off to the river. Came home about 3ish, immediately dived onto the computer copied the sketch and got on with it :) i hunted through my photos found this one of the boys larking about thought it was 'real' so that was my take on the class!

Well i am at work tomorrow so not too sure whether i will have time to do the class, hope do so :)

Catch ya tomorrow

Jason is now 14, well he was on Friday, we have celebrated most of the weekend in some form or another Friday he chose what we would have for tea which was a roast dinner, with a double chocolate gateau for pud, yummy, Saturday we went to Berkley Castle to watch the medieval jousting i found it very interesting think the boys enjoyed it too and today we went to Cribbs Causeway to the skate shop for him to choose a pair of trainers.

Also on Friday I met up with a couple of my Bristol pals at paperarts where we spent 3 hours oooin' and ahhhin' in this most gorgeous shop, i think i spent the least out of all of us :D we left when we couldn't ignore our stomachs any longer, we drove to a converted mill 'Egypt Mill' where we had the most scrummy meal and a much needed drink, there we chatted happily putting the world to rights, and watched the ducks duckin and divin' what a great day.

Well that is pretty much caught up :)

Catch ya soon!

Ear Infection

Poor little Lou, he has an ear infection, he had a real rough night! I felt helpless, all i could do was keep giving him paracetemol, rang the doctors (did wait until the mad rush period would be over) about 10:35, the receptionist, said that she could fit him in at 11, which was great, problem was we were all still in our pjs! So one heck of a mad rush to go get washed/dressed and in the car for the appointment, we mad it by the skin of our teeth, he has amoxicillin now 3 times a day. Poor kid has been brewing for something, he wasn't feeling too rosey last week.

Anyhoo! We have now started the summer holidays, the big boys have just left to go swimming, Lewis is watching Citv, not too sure what i am up to yet, i was supposed to be at work today!

Right, might come back later if anything else happens :)

TTFN :)

Winding down

Once again, not too much to record, winding down with the school holidays starting, the two older boys finished Friday, Lewis' last day today. I am looking forward to the holidays , no making sandwiches (unless for a picnic), no getting up early (unless i am working that day) a little bit of chillin' out for 6 weeks. I cant believe it will be Ryan's LAST summer holiday!

Jasons birthday on Friday, not sure what to get him? He is into dragons, hmmm! Think i need to ask him.

Yesterday, went to Bristol on a lurk with a few of the lurkers, which is always fun (a little 'ME' time)

Speaking of 'ME' i have ordered my album to use for the 'BoM'. Also making a note of the questions that are being posted on UKS to promote 'ME' thoughts, trying to rack my brains to think of stuff, really struggling with yesterdays one 'heroes' enjoying it all though :)

Forgot to mention that Lewis' investiture into Beavers went really well he said his promise with confidence, i think he is really chuffed he is now a Beaver - Bless, it was a real proud mummy moment :) just need to scrap it now!

Ciao for now :)
